Greetings All, as we wind down for this school year, it is my hope that each and every one of you have had a successful year within your classrooms, schools and communities. It is always been the philosophy of the staff of the MFNERC to support the efforts of you the educators and the educational leadership of Manitoba’s First Nations. As many of you know, there have been many new developments within the MFNERC including a move to a new location with Winnipeg. To date, most of our Winnipeg staff are at the new office located at 200-109 Waverley from the 1151 Sherwin Office. Our phone number remains the same which within Winnipeg is 204-940-7020 and toll free 1-877-247-7020. As always, our doors are open for visitors fives days of the week. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the schools which took part in this year’s Science Fair and congratulate the winners, including the teachers and parents who supported them. Also, I would like to thank the MFNERC staff who gave tirelessly their time to make this another great success we can all be proud of. Another couple of winners I would like to congratulate is Dion Desmet from Tataskwayak Cree Nation and Shirleena Spence-Tait from Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation who won for the Junior and Senior categories for this year’s Lighting the Fire Student Essay Contest. This year, workshops, training sessions and school planning was on going. I am certain it was a productive year for all of you and on behalf of the staff and management of the MFNERC, I wish you all a safe and fun summer! Lorne C. Keeper |
